My son will be 3 next month, and i have tried to potty train him since he turned 2,I've tried everything. I say lets go potty and he'll say "NO" so I go pick him up and he'll scream, and hit,he does sit on it,but doesn't do anything and then sreams that he wants off. I have tried the timer, stickers, treats, and toys, but nothing,I'm wore out and I'm about ready to just give up,but he'll be 3,and he needs to potty train.

Our oldest presented us with a similar challenge. Take heart! He's now 10, and seems to suffer no ill effects from the potty training trauma at 3.

While we're no experts, we did find a need to take a break for a couple of weeks. Then I might suggest sneaking in some videos or books that you can watch or read together, and then just chat about it. See where it goes.

Children have an amazing ability to sense our anxiety level, and match it. Sometimes the stress that potty training causes on the parents can contribute to the stress the child is feeling. Best to reset, and start again when the timing feels right for both of you.

We are currently potty training our son who will be 3 the end of August. Boys are harder to train and usually go later than girls. I would agree with the advice of taking a few weeks off. I went on line and googled potty training boys and found wonderful advice. Just remember...never yell or shame your little one. This too shall pass...literally. You will get there. You will find on line some milestones that your child should achieve developmentally before you try. Each child develops at their own pace so just go slow. The more you push the more he will balk at co-opperating.

i think toilets are overrated. you see the world is natural and so is defecation. when my first son didnt want to use the toilet out of fear, i simply let him go outside...eventually he became so embarrassed that he WANTED to use the toilet even though he feared for his life.
