I'm finding now that my 7th grader is getting older-I really have to work harder at making sure she fills me in on what she's feeling and how her day is-she's approaching the age when she would rather confide in her friends. Any advice or success stories any one can share?

I have noticed the same thing with my 8th grader and the more I pushed the quieter she got. I decided to approach her with the offer that if and when she needs to talk I will be ready to listen. So far she has taken me up on the offer and is a lot more open just like before.

Thanks, I think I will reiterate that with my daughter too, and stop worrying so much. I just know this is that "tough age" for girls and there is so much peer pressure.
